On Thursday, January 31, 2019 Biloxi Jr. High participated in the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics 7th and 8th Grade Math Tournament hosted by MGCCC. We had 66 eighth graders test and 72 seventh graders test at the local level. The tournament is a great way to recognize and encourage mathematically talented students. The two seventh and eighth graders with the highest scores will advance to the district level on March 21 at MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus. The top two winners from the district level will then advance to the state tournament. Thanks to the generosity of the company, Chemours, there are cash prizes for numerous winners at each grade level, as well as door prizes for everyone on the day of the district tournament.
Congratulations to the 8th grade winners:
Scottland Cooper and Anthony Smith. An alternate is: Elizabeth Ladner.
Congratulations to the 7th grade winners:
James Leon and Kevin Valera-Calderon. An alternate is: Rhys Newman.
