STARS @ Biloxi High!
Justin Peine has been named Biloxi High School's STAR Student for the 2016-17 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M.B. Swayze Foundation. STAR students are chosen based on ACT scores and scholastic averages.
Justin is the son of Steven and Julie Peine of Biloxi and plans on studying Pre Med at Brigham Young University upon graduation. He is a National Merit Semi-Finalist, Section Leader of the BHS Marching Band, first chair in the GCBDA Honor Band and a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Each STAR student is asked to designate a STAR teacher, the teacher who has made the greatest contribution to the student's academic achievement. Peine chose Michael Burkett, his AP Physics teacher. This is the second time Mr. Burkett has been selected as a STAR teacher. Mr. Burkett said, "Justin is a hilariously brilliant student with a bright future in front of him."
Peine and Mr. Burkett will be recognized April 27 in Jackson at the MEC's annual Education Celebration.
Congratulations Justin and Mr. Burkett!
