2015-2016 Valedictorian & Salutatorian
Congratulations to our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2015-2016 school year...
Valedictorian- Abbigail Mattfeld is the daughter of Peter and Barbara Mattfeld. She was Secretary of the National Honor Society, a member of Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and a volunteer at the Margaret S. Sherry Memorial Library. In the past, Mattfeld was a member of the Biloxi High School Varsity and Symphonic Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and the annual Gulf Coast Band Director Association Gold Band. She received the excellence in Algebra I, Biology I, English I, World Geography, AP Biology, Algebra II, U.S. History, English III, Marine Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Latin II, Astronomy, Dual Credit Algebra, Dual Credit Trigonometry, the BHS Advanced Placement Honor Scholar Award, and perfect scores on Algebra I, Biology I, and U.S. History state exams, Most outstanding Freshman Band Member, Most Improved Percussionist, and Most Outstanding Sophomore Band Member. In ten years, she plans to be at a point in her career, where all of her time and effort have paid off, and she can happily help people or maybe even save lives for a living. The one person who inspired her most was Dr. Chesman because of her lively teaching methods and high expectations for her students and always encouraging her to do better and to be the best that she could be. She showed school pride by performing in the BHS band at football games and participating in school activities such as spirit and red ribbon week. BHS has taught her, to be more sociable and to branch out more. After high school, Mattfeld plans to attend the University of North Carolina and major in bio-medical studies.
Salutatorian- Kassidy Reynolds is the daughter of Don and Keileigh Reynolds. She was senior class Secretary, Vice President of Mock Trial, a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Council. In the past, she was a member of the Future Medical Professionals Club, Key Club, and Indian Echo Yearbook Staff. She received the Most Effective Witness Award at the 2015 Mock Trial competition, school board recognition for her perfect score on the SATP Biology I exam, highest score in Algebra I, academic achievement awards in Spanish II, Algebra II, World History, Anatomy, and Physiology, a National Society of High School Scholars Inductee, Presidential Scholarship recipient of The University of South Alabama. She plans to attend the University of South Alabama and major in Bio-medical Science. In ten years, she plans to establish a career in a STEM related field. The one person who inspired her the most was her mom because she was the most influential educator in her life and provided ongoing support, advice, and encouragement for her to strive for excellence. She showed school pride by academically performing at the most advanced level which allowed her to demonstrate the quality of education that she acquired at BHS from many outstanding teachers. BHS has taught Reynolds that although the we ,as students, are quite diverse, we all are a part of the same school family in the end.
