First Lady, Excel by 5 help create 'Super Savers'
You're never too young to learn about saving money, and Biloxi Excel by 5 and First Lady Deborah Bryant helped youngsters get in the spirit on Thursday morning with a program called "I am a Super Saver."
Mrs. Bryant read the award-winning children's book "Corduroy,"
which tells the story of a young girl who uses money from her piggy bank to buy
a teddy bear named, you guessed it, Corduroy. The children then decorated their very own piggy bank and also received a copy of the book, autographed by First Lady Bryant!
"Corduroy," by the
way, is a 1968 children's book written and illustrated by Don Freeman, and
published by Viking Press. In a 2007 online poll, the National Education
Association named the book one of its "Teachers' Top 100 Books for
Children." It was one of the "Top 100 Picture Books" of all time
in a 2012 poll by School Library Journal.
"I am a Super Saver" is sponsored
by Biloxi Excel By 5, Biloxi Schools, City of Biloxi, IP Casino Resort Spa,
Community Bank, Blom’s Creative Signs, S & S Trophies and Awards.
Thank you First Lady Bryant for visiting our wonderful Excel by 5 program and thank you to our wonderful sponsors!
