Semester 2 Update from Mr. Boudreaux
Hello Biloxi Public Schools Parents & Students,
Congratulations to everyone for successfully completing the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. It was far from easy, but by working together we were able to provide our students with many amazing educational opportunities during these very difficult times. I would like to thank you all for your patience and support as we navigated through new safety precautions, changing procedures, isolation, quarantine, distance learning, and the myriad of other changes that have become a part of our current reality. Even though a vaccine will be available in the near future, we will continue to be faced with these same challenges during the second semester of the school year and we ask for your continued patience and support.
Semester 2 begins on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. We fully anticipate returning at that time to a traditional school schedule (just as we are currently operating). Obviously, plans are always fluid in the midst of the pandemic and could change based upon infection rates, data, and/or state and federal mandates. In order to meet the goal of continuing with a traditional schedule, we must work together as students transition from home and school. The holidays are a wonderful time for family and friends to celebrate together. We ask that you please use extreme caution and follow the guidance of health professionals during this unique holiday season. Doing the small things can go a long way in minimizing Covid-19 spread and protecting loved ones from contracting the virus. It also helps to enable a safe return to the traditional classroom after the holidays.
Reflecting back on the first semester fills me with a tremendous sense of pride, achievement and awe. The students, staff and parents of the Indian Nation proved that we will succeed and persevere no matter the challenges that we are faced with. The fight is not finished, but we have shown that our fortitude and resolve are strong and that we will not allow anything to stop us from achieving excellence. That same attitude will propel us to even greater success during the second half of this school year.
From all of the staff members of the Biloxi Public School District, we wish you all an amazing Holiday Season and hope that all of your wishes come true (I really hope you all wish for an end to the global pandemic)! As always, I’m proud to be a member of the INDIAN NATION and believe in our mission of building a better Biloxi community.
