Mr. Chris Word

Welcome!  I'm so excited about starting my 23rd year in education and first at Biloxi Junior High School.

I'm a native of Memphis, TN, spent my formative years in Lawrence, KS, graduated from Starkville High School, and earned my BMed from the University of Southern Mississippi (TO THE TOP!).

Before Biloxi, I taught band, choir, guitar, and piano at Purvis, Petal, Largo, FL and Pensacola, FL.

I am a clinician, drill writer, choreographer, and adjudicator throughout the Southeastern United States.  I've had the privilege to write drill for the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps and serve as Visual Caption Head.

During my tenure in the pageantry arts, I have been on staff for numerous Scholastic A Regional Finalists, WGI Scholastic Percussion Finalists, and WGI Scholastic A Winds Finalists, and WGI Scholastic Open Winds Finalists.

Outside of the band world, I am a choreographer and director for the stage, having recently completed Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Hub City Players), Steel Magnolias (Hub City Players), Phantom of the Opera (University of Southern Mississippi), James and the Giant Peach (Hub City Players). and Showbiz Harmony (University of Southern Mississippi).
