Dr. Kristen L. Suarez
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am very excited to begin my 12th year in education at Biloxi Upper Elementary, where I will be teaching English/Language Arts and assisting our English Learner population in growing with the English language and fostering their successes at our school. My personal educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from William Carey University, a Master's degree in English Education from William Carey Univeristy, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. I have taught English and Language Arts all the way from 2nd-10th grades between Biloxi Public Schools and Jackson County Schools, including special education inclusion students within the regular classroom environment. I have also taught Classroom Management to college students enrolled in the Alternative Teacher Education program at William Carey University. Lastly, I have also served as a Multi-tiered System of Supports (academic and behavioral intervention coordinator) for 6th-12th grades. All of these experiences and qualifications combined will be of great assistance to me as I complete my 1st year at Biloxi Upper, working with our English Language Learners!
We have a wonderful variety of activities, incentives, programs, and of course, high-quality instruction planned throughout the coming months. In order for students to get the most out of their experience here at Biloxi Upper, it is extremely important that they have GREAT attendance! We truly appreciate stellar attendance records, and for that, we offer students rewards just for being at school! In addition, research proves time and time again that students fall back several levels not just because of absences, but also by being tardy. Please help us ensure your student gets the best and most productive experience they can have through regular, consistent attendance, including scheduling doctor appointments after school, when possible. We sincerely appreciate your parental efforts to be that connection with us between home and school!
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school to leave a message, and I will return your call as soon as possible!
Let's get ready for a FANTASTIC 2019-2020 school year!!!
