Principal Kelleigh Reynolds
It is with great pleasure that I continue my service to the Biloxi Public School District as Principal of Biloxi Upper Elementary School! Sixteen years ago, I began my career teaching 7th grade English at Michel where I served as a department chair and district-appointed mentor for new teachers. During this time, I earned National Board Certification in English Language Arts and served as our school's cheerleading coach for 5 years before moving on to the campuses of BJHS and BHS teaching French and ESL.
Named State Teacher of the Year in 2009, I next served our community in the capacity of Biloxi Public School District's Secondary Language Arts Instructional Coach. Over the course of these years, I played an integral role developing curriculum and assessment banks for the district, providing in-house professional development for teachers, and serving as an invited participant on MDE panels for the state's transition into CCRS.
Following this, I moved into administration having now served as Assistant Principal at Popp's Ferry Elementary School for one year and Assistant Principal at Biloxi Junior High School for three years. In 2014, I was named Administrator of the Year by the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce.
I cannot think of a greater honor than serving the children of Biloxi in this role, and I look forward to making 2018-2019 the best school year ever!
Assistant Principal Brian Rolison
5th and 6th Grade
I am a native of the Coast and a graduate of Jones County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. I began my teaching career in the Pass Christian School District in 1996. For the next seven years, I served as faculty forum representative, middle school track coach, high school assistant baseball coach, head middle school baseball coach, and NCSS state representative while teaching social studies and computers.
After a five year hiatus, I returned to education in the Long Beach School District where I taught 7th grade social studies and ICT1 while serving as a mentor to new teachers in the district. I was named Long Beach School District Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. In addition, I worked closely with USM as a student teacher supervisor and contributed as a district bus driver, boys' soccer and baseball head coach. I went on to attend the National Institute of School Leadership Executive Development Program, and in 2014, I was named one of the lead teachers at Long Beach High School.
The past two years, I have proudly served as an assistant principal at Biloxi Junior High School. I look forward to serving the parents and students of Biloxi Upper Elementary School for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year!
Assistant Principal Lucas Schmermund
My name is Lucas Schmermund. I am excited and looking forward to the 2018-2019 school year at Biloxi Upper Elementary. This begins my 12th year in education, all of which have been as a member of the INDIAN NATION! I earned my bachelor of arts from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006 and, in 2010, earned my master’s degree in administration.
I began teaching in 2007 as the Social Studies teacher at the Center for New Opportunities. I stayed in the position for four years and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and patience. In 2011, I became the In School Suspension Director for the district. I remained in that position for two years before becoming the Assistant Principal at Gorenflo Elementary. This past year I was named administrator of the year by the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce.
I look forward to working with students, parents and staff at Biloxi Upper Elementary and the Center for New Opportunities.
