Ms. Chelsea Fortenberry

Welcome to First Grade!!!

My name is Ms. Chelsea Fortenberry and I am excited about being your child's first grade teacher this year.  This is my 6th year at Popp's Ferry Elementary and I have taught first grade for all of them. Before receiving my degree, I worked as a first grade assistant teacher in Harrison County for five years and gained tremendouse experience that helped me to succeed and become the teacher I am today.

I was born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi. After graduating from Biloxi High School, I attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Perkinston Campus) where I received my Associates Degree. After MGCCC, I attended William Carey University to receive my Bachelors Degree & Masters Degree. I am a huge Saints football fan. My favorite thing to eat is a home cooked burger! During my free time, I enjoy attending Saints football games, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

My decision to major in education came from my 3rd grade teacher. I remember the little things she did in the classroom to make learning fun and enjoyable. I have always loved children. I watch children grow and learn on a daily basis and to me, it is the most rewarding thing of all. When my students leave for summer, I sit back and reflect on how far they have come and it just puts a smile on my face. There is nothing like watching that “light bulb” moment take place. I am blessed to have a job that I look forward to coming to everyday!
