Plan during the COVID-19 school closing:
April 27 - May 1
The April 27 - May 1 Foundations to Algebra lesson plan includes a video explanation of solving various quadratic equations using the online DESMOS calculator. The video is located in Google Classroom and on YouTube. A work packet with screenshots of the video is available for those that are unable to get online. The lesson includes a worksheet with 12 problems and a bubble sheet available in Google Classroom for those that use Google Classroom to gain immediate feedback on problems they get correct. Students are encouraged to ask questions. Additional videos will be created based on feedback from students.
April 20th - April 24th
Foundations to Algebra plan is to solve multi-step equations and quadratic equations. Students will work 12 problems which consist of 6 multi-step equations and 6 quadratic equations using DESMOS. A video is provided in Google Classroom along with YouTube for students to review how to solve the problems. The quadratics will have answers in decimal form during this assignment with the intention to build to exact (non-decimal) answers in the next unit. The students will input their answers into a Google Classroom Bubble Sheet for immediate feedback on the correct responses. Students are encouraged to send requests for real-time Google Meet chats or requests of more videos if needed on the topics.
April 9 - April 19 is SPRING BREAK
April 6 - April 8
Solving multistep equations worksheet with 12 problems. This is a prior skill that needs reinforcement with DESMOS. A video will be posted on Google Classroom to remind students of the procedures. The video will be available in Google Classroom for download or through YouTube. Google Classroom will also have a bubble sheet to give immediate feedback on which problems the students get correct or incorrect.
March 30 - April 3
Graphing Piecewise Functions Worksheet with 12 problems and a video on Google classroom addressing any questions about the previous week. The video will also remind students of the process of using DESMOS to graph these functions. The video will be available in Google Classroom for download or through YouTube. Google Classroom will also have a bubble sheet to give immediate feedback on which problems the students get correct or incorrect.
March 23 - March 27
Graphing Piecewise Functions worksheet of 9 problems and a video on Google Classroom. This is an introductory lesson on using DESMOS to graph piecewise functions. The worksheet consists of two answer choices per question. Google Classroom also has a bubble sheet to give immediate feedback on which problems the students get correct or incorrect. I have offered a Zoom video chat for any students that desire.
