    Objectives:

    • Specific objectives for Science I and Science II are listed in my Lesson Plans section. The objectives with an asterik (*) indicate they are directly taken from the Mississippi Dept. of Education (MDE) website http://www.mde.k12.ms.us/OSA/SP/mississippi-assessment-program-alternate-(map-a), and these objectives are based on the Mississippi Extended Science Frameworks.

    • Several science experiments will be conducted throughout the year, and these experiments will be listed in my Lesson Plans section weeks before the experiment will take place.

    Tests and Grades

    Grading:  A = 90-100     B = 80-89          C = 70-79          D = 69-65          F = below 65     I = Incomplete

Grading follows the policies of Biloxi Public Schools.  A mid-term progress report and a report card following the end of each term are issued.  The student’s current grades are available via Internet IOD. (http://iiod.ssts.com/Home.asp?state=MS)

Tests: Tests will be given in a timely manner and will be listed in my Lesson Plans section on my Web page. If the student is absent, he/she will be given the opportunity to make up that test. The test must be made up before the next term begins. Tests are equal to 55% of the student’s average, so it is very important that all tests are made up in a timely manner.

Retesting:  A student may retest upon successfully completing practice assignments on the material he or she was not able to master on the original test. A similar test will be given and the higher of the two scores will entered into the gradebook.

Homework/Assignments/Projects: Homework assignments are due the day after they are assigned unless there is an unforeseen problem {i.e., illness, death in the family, accident, etc…}. For every day the assignment is late, there will be a 5-point deduction in the student’s grade unless he or she is able provide a legitimate excuse.
