 5th Grade Dinosaur Exhibit

The 5th Grade was treated to a dinosaur fossil presentation in the gym on Monday, January 23, 2017.

Eric Broadbridge “Mr. Eric”, a petroleum geologist from Covington, Louisiana gave an educational talk on dinosaurs using a dinosaur fossil collection on loan from the New Orleans Geological Society.  Dinosaurs existed during the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods (Mesozoic Era), from about 248 to 65 million years ago.  The 5th grade learned how fossils are formed and what fossils can tell us about a dinosaur’s characteristics and how they lived.  Most of the bone fossils were pretty cool however the 5th graders really liked seeing the skulls and claws from the Carnivorous (meat eating) dinosaurs such as the Velociraptor (dog size),  Deinonychus (6 feet tall), Allosaurus (12 feet tall) and the very large Tyrannosaurus (T-Rex) (25 feet tall).  Many thanks goes to Ms. Kelly who organized the presentation.

NOTE: Eric Broadbridge is a business partner with Ms. Kelly’s father, Pete Kelly in the oil industry.
