Grading Scale

A=90-100  B=80-89  C=75-79  D=70-74  F=below 70  I=incomplete

Grading follows the policies of Biloxi Public Schools.  A mid-term progress report and a report card following the end of each term are issued.  The student’s current grades are available via Internet IOD. (http://iiod.ssts.com/Home.asp?state=MS)

 

 

 

Math

Objectives: This is a general overview of what the teacher will teach and what the student is expected to master.

1 Understand and represent relationships among numbers and operations (addition, subtraction, and

multiplication). Compute fluently using effective strategies or rote memory.

 

a Recall addition and subtraction facts. (DOK 1)

 

c Compose and decompose three-digit numbers with representations in words and 4

physical models. (DOK 2)

 

f1 Determine and compare the value of money up to $2.00 using the appropriate symbols 2

for dollars and cents. (DOK 1)

 

h1 Recall place value to the 10s place. (DOK 1)

 

h2 Recall place value to the 100s place. (DOK 1)

 

2 Analyze patterns, numbers, relationships, and functions.

 

a Explain, analyze, and extend repeating and growing patterns. (DOK 2)

 

b Use number patterns to skip count by 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, and 10’s. (DOK 1)

 

c1 Model situations and solve equations that involve the addition and subtraction of whole 3

numbers. (DOK 2) (Limited to add/subtract without regouping of basic facts)

Assessments: A weekly math test will be given on chapter tests, skills, fact drills or mixed practice.  Weekly tests will account for 90% of the final grade.  The Biloxi District Term Test will be given at the end of each nine weeks will account for 10% of the final grade.

 

Homework/Assignments/Projects: Homework assignments given to students should be returned the following day unless otherwise specified.  No homework will be given on the night of school events.

 

Course Requirements:      

 

Reteaching and Retesting:  Reteaching and Retesting:  A student who fails a test will be offered an opportunity for reteaching and retesting within 10 days by the classroom teacher.  In that instance the teacher will send home a written notice.  Communication will take place between the teacher and the parent as to the reteaching times and the date of the retest.  The student must attend the reteaching sessions to be eligible to retest.  The higher of the two tests will be placed in the grading program in the computer.

 

**If a student does not fail a test but the parent would like for them to retake the test, a parent may request  that the test be retaken.  The teacher will then notify the parent of the reteaching assighment to be completed AT  HOME by the student under the direction and assistance of the parent, the date the assignment is due to the teacher, and the date of the retest.

Retesting requests must be made within 10 days of receiving the test grade.
