Library/ Media Center
Objectives: This is a general overview of what
the teacher will teach and what the student is expected to master.
Students attend the
library weekly to check out books. The
librarian reads to them from various genres and/or the students receive
silent reading time as they complete an activity related to the their reading
or to specific grade level objectives.
The
library cooridinaes and collaboates with the classroom teachers to reinforce
and extend the Language Arts skills through the Accelerated Reader program.
The
students will identify story elements approriate for each grade level.
The
students will express, communicate or evaluate ideas effectively.
The
students will use word recognition and vocabulary skills to communicate.
The students will interpret
text through moving, drawing, speaking, writing, acting or singing.
Assessments: The library does not give grades.
Homework/Assignments/Projects: The library does not require homework. Your child will be allowed to bring home
library books to read, so please help them set a 10-20 minute reading time
each night.
Course Requirements: Good Behavior, Participation, and Respect.
Reteaching and Retesting:
The library does not require
reteaching or retesting.
Additional Comments: Please take time this term to encourage your child
to meet his/her Accelerated Reader goals.
Reading is so important in every aspect of our learning.
