Reading-  In reading this month, we will continue to practice reading and writing.  We are busy reading as many things that we can get our hands on. We are also focusing on writing sentences.  We will be practicing using –ing to form words.  We are talking about action words and nouns.  We will also talk about describing words.  Be sure to practice reading the Frye Word list sent home.  These are words to practice reading only.  They are to help us become better first graders.

Math- In math this month, we will talk about some and some more stories.(addition) and some and some went away  stories(subtraction).  We will practice adding and subtracting on paper and reading number sentences.  We will work on measurement, weight and tallying.  Be sure to practice identifying numbers to 30 and counting to 100. 

Social Studies- This month we will be talking about how to keep our bodies and our teeth healthy.  We will also talk about Famous Americans, US symbols and recycling.

Notes- We will be trading Valentine cards on Valentine’s Day.  I will be sending home a list of names of our friends. I will also be sending home a note about our party to let you know what we will be doing. Thanks and have a great month!
