What they liked:

  • neatness
  • good details in the pictures
  • good drawings
  • bright colors
  • interesting and appropriate fonts
  • more detail on the title to emphasize its importance
  • descriptive words
  • statements that conveyed the tone and mood of the story
  • clear story elements
  • Things they suggested for improvements:

  • don’t leave too much white in the background
  • draw pictures larger
  • use bolder colors
  • don’t use only dark colors
  • don’t rush on the artwork
  • color neatly, completely and in one direction; no scribbling
  • don’t use too much glue, but secure all of the edges to the poster
  • cut mats for the pictures neatly; maybe with a ruler
  • make the mats larger than what is being matted
  • using contrasting colors to make the mats stand out from the background
  • arrange the labels in an order according to the story elements
  • start with the wording on the poster, then add the pictures
  • use good vocabulary; no slang
  • use more adjectives and adverbs
  • use a lot of details in the resolution; tell why
  • describe the characters fully
  • include time and place in the setting
