---Þ The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5, 2009. A full day of school for kindergarten through fifth grade is from 8:40 a.m. - 3:40 p.m. Students should arrive at school between 8:10 and 8:40 a.m. Students are not allowed on campus before 8:10 a.m.
Þ Breakfast will not be served the first day of school. Lunch will be served the first day of school. You may pay by the day, week, or month. Make sure you write your child’s name and lunch number on the check. STUDENTS MAY NOT CHARGE MEALS IN THE CAFETERIA. Breakfast will be served beginning August 6th from 8:10-8:40 a.m. Breakfast doors close at 8:30 a.m. Prices for the 2009-10 school year are as follows:

Þ Applications for free or reduced meals must be approved through the BPS Child Nutrition Office. It is important that all information is factual. Please note that school officials may verify your information.
Class rosters will be posted on August 4th at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Meet and greet your teacher and drop off supplies from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Beginning August 5, 2009, all students will report to their classrooms at 8:10 a.m.
Please go over your emergency and rainy day plan with your child so he/she will know what to do.
Parents who walk to school with children are asked to exit the building as soon as the bell rings so instruction may begin.
Students will only be released to authorized persons on the checkout form. Telephone call changes cannot be accepted.
Þ Parents are responsible for calling the school when a student is absent. Upon the student’s return to school, a written statement verifying the phone call and signed by the parent/guardian should be presented to the teacher.
When a child arrives late for school, a parent/legal guardian, or parent’s designee must come inside to sign the child in at the office.
Due to various allergies of staff and students, please do not bring pets on campus among students when dropping off or picking up students from school.
Excessive absences, tardies, and early checkouts will be reported to the school attendance officer for referral to Family Court.
No checkouts from 3:15-3:40 p.m.
Þ Students present all day everyday without checking in or out for the entire year will receive a perfect attendance trophy at the end of the year. Also students receiving all "A’s" for the entire year will receive a special trophy or plaque. Accelerated Reader medals are given for students excelling to honors.
Þ Students are not allowed to bring medicine to school. An adult must bring it to the nurse. The nurse cannot dispense medication without a prescription. Contact Nurse Acquah if you have questions or concerns.
It is the law that NO SMOKING on school premises.
Nutrition Awareness – Healthy is Academic with the program entitled "Eat Right – Stay Bright". Unhealthy and junk foods such as candy, cake, cupcakes, chips, and carbonated drinks will not be served in the classroom.
It is the policy of Biloxi Schools that students will not bring any cell phones, pagers, Walkmans, games, i-pods, or other electronic devices into the building. If brought into the building, it will be secured by administration and released to the student’s parent/guardian at the end of the school year.
Parents are welcome to visit our school. Upon arrival, please report to the office so we may assist you and you may obtain a visitor’s pass. For the safety of your child and our staff, all classroom doors will be locked at all time. All exterior doors into the building are locked. Only the front entrance door facing St. Mary Blvd. will remain open. If you need to speak with a teacher, please schedule an appointment through the office. From 8:10 a.m. – 3:40 p.m, teachers are responsible for students except for their planning period or after school until 4:00 p.m.
