What's the Latest Buzz?
I wanted to inform you that beginning
with Semester II, spelling will not be counted as a major test grade
in and of itself as directed by our Language Arts Instructional Coach
and our administrators at BJHS. Instead, some spelling words may be
selected for inclusion on the English department's major tests as they
are given. These words will come from spelling lists designated for
the term that correspond to the specific grading period addressed on
the major test. If a weekly check-up of spelling is given, this will
be counted as an activity grade along with any homework assignment for
copying words.
Please know that this change in grading
will likely affect your child's overall average in his/her
English class. If you would like more details, please let me know. I
would be happy to explain what the effect (increase or decrease in
class average) may possibly be for your child next semester.
