US History  

2-6 Nov 09 Projects Students must read a book from this list. This is a test grade and students have a handout with the details.  NLT than 10 Dec 09.

Mon:  Intro chap 6.  Identify ways that New England colonists made a living. Describe community life and government.  Vocabulary activity for homework.  Students will illustrate a map of the New England Colonies

Tue:  Continue with New England.  Focus on education and developing school systems.  Students will read selections from a 1700s New England Primer.

Wed: Discuss diversity of the Middle Colonists and their origins.  Describe daily life.  Students will illustrate a map of the Middle Colonies and list the groups and people who settled.  Guided Reading 6-2 for homework.

Thur:  Middle Colonies, frontier life, and westward expansion. Students will analyze a population chart and compare lifestyles of New York and Philadelphia to the rural areas. 

Fri:  Quiz on sections 1 & 2.  Intro Southern Colonies.  Interdisciplinary activity. Making the Math Connection.  Colonial travel. 

COLONIAL PROJECT DUE ON 13 NOV 09:  Students must create an illustrated  brochure or poster depicting the economy, lifestyle, and govt. of one of the thirteen colonies.  The goal is to convince others in Europe to join the colony.  This project counts as a test grade.

 

 

Students are reminded that the daily bell work is reported as a weekly grade.  Having zeroes on bell work is a terrible reason to have a failing grade.
