What We Are Doing and When!
August 7, 2008 - Welcome Back!!! We'll talk about what is STEM, the lab contract, and start talking about safety rules.
August 8, 2008 - More on safety!
August 11, 2008 - Finish talking about safety. Review for safety test! Students MUST make a 100 on it though only the first time counts as a grade.
August 12, 2008 - Safety test.
August 13 - 15, 2008 - We start learning about how to use BlackBoard, an online learning environment. Primarily we will use it for the Discussion Boards.
August 18 - 27, 2008 - Students will take a PreTest (NOT for grade) on computer basics on Monday! Tuesday they will be doing vocabulary and the rest of the time will be notes on the basics of computers! They will take a quiz on their vocabulary words on Thursday!
August 25, 2008 - Students will be writing an essay on "Being Different." Character education is in our curriculum and we will occasionally take a day to delve in!
August 27, 2008 - Students will watch a very short video and discuss it on Blackboard. They will start definitions for the 2nd part of Computer Concepts!
August 28, 2008 - Test on Computer Concepts part 1. Finish the definitions from yesterday!
August 29, 2008 - Make up day!!! Students will be allowed to make up/finish any work that is needed.
September 2, 2008 - Gustav!
September 3, 2008 - I am absent due to a health issue. Students watched Batman Tech.
September 4 - 8, 2008 - Notes on Computer Concepts part 2
September 5, 2008 - Vocabulary quiz on definitions! NOT a test! :-)
September 9 & 10, 2008 - On Tuesday I will miss due to a couple of tests I need to have run. Wednesday is a missed day because of my Dad. He is an 80 year old with dementia and Parkinson's I have to occasionally take to the doctor. It is unavoidable and I try to make a couple of appointments on each day unless it is an emergency. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
September 11, 2008 - Test on Computer Concepts part 2
September 12, 2008 - I have to see a specialist doctor today. The kids will start watching the movie October Sky! It is in the STEM curriculum.
September 15, 2008 - Students will do an assignment on Blackboard.
September 16 & 17, 2008 - We will continue watching the movie October Sky! I will be having a Cardiac Catheterization done on Tuesday. To learn more go here! I will NOT be here for Back to School night!
September 18 & 19, 2008 - I was not here! Students watched educational videos.
September 22 - 26, 2008 - We will start working on Word 2007. First up, students will design a logo for this class to be used on our Blackboard web site.
September 26, 2008 - Last day to retest Computer Concepts Part 1 TEST! Be sure to hand write 1-21 definitions 5 times each! This date is changed because of my illness!
September 26, 2008 - Last day to retest Computer Concepts Part 2 TEST! Be sure to hand write 1-25 definitions 5 times each!
September 29, 2008 - I have a follow-up with my cardiologist!
September 30, 2008 - Students will create a logo using SmartArt in Word 2007 that will count towards their term test grade!
October 1, 2008 - Students will take a review for their term tests.
October 2 -3, 2008 - Students will take term tests on the appropriate day. I will be in Baltimore at a meeting but will be back on Monday. This is my LAST day to miss until December! Well, unless something else comes up! Thanks for all your patience!!!
