8th Grade Language Arts is ESSENTIAL in preparing students for high school studies and beyond!

   

COURSE GOAL/DESCRIPTION:

Eighth grade language arts students use oral language, written language, and other media and technology for expressive, informational, argumentative, critical and literary purposes.  Students will continue to refine their study of language and grammar in order to speak and write effectively. Throughout this course we will follow the MS Department of Education's curriculum frameworks for 8th grade language arts.   We will interpret and evaluate a wide range of literature that reflects the thoughts and ideas of the times in which they were written—the struggles, the triumphs, the changes.  We will continue to build on our writing skills through a variety of styles: reflection, argumentation, etc.  And at the end of the day, as students prepare to go forward in their own journey into high school and beyond, this class will enable them to achieve success in whatever path they choose!
