COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objective of Computer Discovery is to familiarize the student with the basic operations of a computer. These basic operations include competencies in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and networking.
Computer Discovery is required by the State of Mississippi for all eighth grade students. Upon the successful completion of all required competencies, Computer Discovery is worth one Carnegie Unit toward high school graduation.
Any student failing to pass Computer Discovery in the eighth grade must pass the Keyboarding class and the Computer Applications class offered at BHS in order to graduate from high school. There is no provision to retake this course in summer school.
