Computer Discovery Lab Safety Rules
Operate computers only with permission from the teacher.
Check your station immediately when you arrive, and tell the teacher if there is anything wrong before class begins.
Always sit at your assigned station.
Find the proper adjustment for your chair before class begins, and leave it there.
Do not roll, play, or spin in the chairs.
Be ready to start when the tardy bell rings.
Continue working on assignments until the bell rings. The teacher dismisses, not the bell.
Follow directions the first time given.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Never touch anyone else’s keyboard, mouse, or monitor.
Do not unplug anything from the computers or outlets.
Diskettes, CD’s, or other technology devices are not allowed in the lab.
Do not change the monitor controls or any other settings without permission.
NO food, drinks, gum, candy, sunflower seeds, make-up, hair products, fingernail polish, etc in the computer lab.
During teaching time, testing, and announcements there will be NO TALKING and NO WALKING.
Book bags, notebooks, and all other books must be left in the assigned storage area.
You must sign in/out on the proper form when leaving the classroom for any reason. A written pass will be issued to the student.
The computer lab will be open before school on specified days from 7:20 – 7:50 in order for students to complete make-up work or for practice. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the work and turn it in.
No loud talking, name-calling, or disrespect for students or teachers allowed in the classroom. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Do not share your password or social security number.
Save your work every 3-5 minutes.
Do not attempt to make any repair on your computer. Report all problems to your teacher immediately.
At the end of the period, leave your station ready for the next person – trash thrown away, books put away, logged out of the network, and chair pushed under the desk.
REMEMBER When you arrive in class, you are responsible for checking your workstation. Any abuse of your workstation equipment must be reported to the teacher immediately or you may be held responsible for the damages. If you damage or deface any of the computer lab equipment, you and your parents will be held responsible for the cost of any repair or replacement.
