GCBDA CLINIC MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION

Clinic Auditions:  Saturday, January 14, 2012 – Ocean Springs H.S.

Clinic auditions for Junior High/Middle School winds will be as follows:  Concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, in this order in 1½ minutes or less.  Students can play one octave or as many octaves as they have time for in 1½ minutes.  Students will not get credit for scales or notes that are left after time is called.  When students finish their scales, they will play the Chromatic scale (2 octaves) un-timed.  All scales will be played competition style (quarter note-eighth notes-quarter note), tongued up-slurred down, and by memory. 

Clinic auditions for Junior High/Middle School percussion will be as follows:  Play 2 rudiments from the following group of rudiments- Long Roll, 5 Stroke Roll, Single Paradiddle, Flam, and Flam Accent.  All rudiments will be played open-closed-open (slow-fast-slow).  Percussion students may not bring their own snare drum to the tryout room.  A concert snare and stand will be provided by the judges.  Please feel free to adjust the drum stand for correct height.
