BJHS BAND

DAILY CLASSROOM  PROCEDURES

  1. All students are required to drop off their instruments/equipment before 1st period class and place in the proper storage area within the Band Hall.

  1. Do not carry instruments/equipment from class to class.  Percussion students are not to carry drum sticks from class to class.

  1. All students must enter the Band Hall using the double doors that open toward the hallway.  Do not use the single door. Upon entering the Band Hall for your class, get your instrument first and then your music.  Check your daily assignments located on the Dry-Erase Boards.  Everyone needs to be seated when the TARDY BELL sounds.  My raised hand will signal the beginning of class or that I need everyone’s immediate attention.

  1. You may quietly continue to assemble your instrument during class attendance.  Do not get out of your seat for any reason during attendance.  Section leaders will be responsible for telling the Band Director who is present or not present within their section.

  1. We will have a warm up session at the beginning of class.  We will then proceed to the Scale/Rudiment of the week.  We will use our Essential Elements 2000 Books for review.  Our final objective is to rehearse from our music folder.  Bring all music and materials to band rehearsal everyday.

  1. You will be given 2 to 3 minutes to disassemble your instrument/equipment and place your instrument and music in the proper storage area.

  1. All chairs and stands must be neatly arranged within your row before class dismissal.

  1. The band director will dismiss class when the bell rings.  All students will exit from the double doors leading to the hallway.  No one is to exit from the single emergency door.

  1. All students are to bring their instruments and music home on a daily basis for independent study.  Students are encouraged to practice a minimum of 30 minutes per day on everything assigned and rehearsed in class.  Storage cabinets will be checked by the teacher on a daily basis.

  1. Students needing extra help or assistance with daily class work or weekly tests are encouraged to sign up for tutoring.  I can tutor in the morning (before 1st Period) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays because of my morning duty assignment.  I can tutor everyday after school except on the Wednesdays we have Faculty Meetings.

  1. Students that request an emergency bathroom privilege must sign a Bathroom Privilege Contract that states lost class time will be made up on the following morning between 7:30-7:50 a.m.  Make up time can be practicing on one’s instrument or receiving extra help from the teacher.  Failure to make up lost classroom time will result in a 15 minute After School Detention.
