WETLAND DEFINITIONS

Pictures of the Wetlands!

Here are some pictures of the definitions along with a descriptions.

 

Estuary

· An estuary is a partly enclosed body of water formed where freshwater from rivers and streams flow into the ocean, mixing with salty seawater.

Marsh

· A marsh is an area of a wetland that has many plants and animals it is covered in water most of the time, they are covered in reeds and other tight growing plants, Water lilies live there.

·  Low land that is seasonally flooded.

Freshwater marsh

· A freshwater marsh is the same thing as a saltwater marsh except that the water is fresh and not saline or salty.

Watershed

· A watershed is land that catches rain or snow and seeps into a marsh, stream or river.

Wetland

· A wetland is a land soaked in water most of the time, the soil soaked in water is called “hydric soil.”
