| Mr. Linwood Herron is a "reenactor", that's a person who makes history come alive by dressing in the exact uniform as a soldier from American History. | He came to Beauvoir to talk to the 4th graders. |

| He told them all about the uniforms that they wore then. | He let the children touch the wool coat to see how heavy it is. He explained that wool and cotton were the only materials they had back then. |

| He showed the kinds of shirts, pants and hats they had also. | The pants didn't come in sizes, they had expandable waistlines built in! |

| He showed us a lot of the equipment they used, this is a box that bullets were kept in. | Here is a powder horn used to fire their guns. |

| The beaver skin was used for hats, coats, shoes and blankets. He also showed us the 3 cornered hats they wore. | He told us that America may never have been settled without all those beaver skins to help keep them dressed and warm. |
