JD ART PROGRAM –
Art 2010-2011
Dear Parents,
This year is already off to a great start. I am very excited to be here for a second year at Jeff Davis. This year I will be incorporating as many science themes as possible into our art curriculum. TEAM ART (the parent art support group) came together last year and really made our art class a success. This year I could really use as much help with the art room as possible. Please volunteer to help us. Some of our parents work on projects at home, some help with classes, and still others are available only for special projects.
Visit the ART website by following the classroom link from Jeff Davis’ homepage* click on Classrooms, then special area classes. The art website contains a virtual gallery of student artwork, scenes from our art studio, projects for each term, parent information, and links to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art.
Please consider donating the following items for the art studio.
Grades K-3: ziplock bags - all sizes & Clorox wipes
Grades 4 & 5: shoeboxes (save for January – Mardi Gras Shoebox Floats), yarn- red, blue, black, multi-color (weaving projects), & Kleenex
Have fun and be a part of your child’s art experience by joining “TEAM ART.”

ART CONTEST PERMISSION FORM
Each year a variety of art contests are made available to students at Jeff Davis. Most of these contests ask for the student’s first and last name as well as their school and teacher. These contests are not required, but many students wish to participate. As part of the art program, I introduce the contests that relate to our already established art curriculum or school themes. This allows students to work on their entries during art class. I also package the artwork for submission. Two of the most popular contests are the Marine Education Calendar Contest and the WLOX contests. Student artwork may be published in a calendar, shown on TV, or featured in a newspaper. Students look forward to participating in these contests. Please sign below giving Jeff Davis permission to release your child’s artwork along with their first and last name for art contests. If more detailed information is requested for a contest, individual permission slips will be provided. If this form is not returned, I will not submit the artwork.
I give my permission for my child, _______________________________, to participate in art contests and for their full name and school to be released to the contest sponsor.
