Registration for 2008 - 2009 School Year                                          April 19, 2008

 
IMPORTANT NOTE...  Biloxi residents living north of I-10, (and south of I-10 in some areas such as Eagle Point) although now part of the city of Biloxi, do not reside in the Biloxi Public School District.  These residents, for school purposes, live in the Harrison County School District Students living in this area of the city may attend Biloxi Public Schools on a tuition basis if they choose to do so.

General Information

All students are to be registered on Monday, July 21, Tuesday, July 22, or Wednesday, July 23.
 -
The first day of school is Thursday, August 7, for students who have completed registration
    no later than Friday, August 1.
 - The first day of school for late registrants is Friday, August 8.
 - Registration is conducted between 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the school the student will attend.
 - Parents of students in grades Kindergarten - 6 who do not know the
zone to which their child
    is assigned should call the Student Services office, (228) 374-1810, extension 125.

Please note that pre-registration will not be conducted this year because all parent/guardians must provide, at the time of registration, two documents to verify the address where they reside.  State regulations now require school districts to copy and  maintain on file copies of the acceptable documents presented by parents/guardians...
  
 
By state law, two of the following documents must be presented to verify the residence of the
  student's parent/guardian:
 þ Utility bills (water, gas, electric)
 þ Driver’s license listing present address
 þ Voter precinct identification
 þ Automobile registration
 þ Filed Homestead Exemption application form
 þ Mortgage documents or property deed, apartment or home lease. 
 þ Parents living in KAFB housing may present a copy of their housing assignment from
     Keesler's Housing Authority.

Late Registration for students not registered by Friday, August 1, 2008

  • All parents/guardians are urged to register their child(ren) on the designated registration dates of July 21, 22, or 23, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., at the school their child will attend.  Questions related to elementary school (grades K-6) attendance zones should be directed to Dr. David Spinks, (228) 374-1810, X-125.
  • Students not registered on or before Friday, August 1, will not be permitted to register or attend classes on the first day of school, Thursday, August 7.
  • Late registration packets may be picked up Monday - Tuesday, August 4-5 and returned on
    Wednesday, August 6, for processing.
  • Late registrants will not be permitted to begin school until Friday, August 8.

Parents of NEW Students are, by law, required to present the documents below:
 New students are those students who did not attend Biloxi Schools last school year.

  By state law, two of the following documents must be presented to verify the residence of the
  student's parent/guardian:

* Change of course selections by new students must be made on or before August 1, 2008.
* New students will receive their schedule on the first day of school, Thursday, August 7.
* By state law, kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2008.
* By state law, first grade students must be 6 years old on or before September 1, 2008.

* New students entering grades 8-12 will save themselves time if a transcript ("unofficial" is O.K.) from their previous school is presented indicating units/credits earned.

  Additional Notes:

 RETURNING students will not be permitted to complete registration until:
 -
Any fines, fees, or charges owed from the previous school year have been paid.
 - Any information required by school officials has been provided by the parent/guardian.
 - The last day for returning students in grades 7-12 to change their schedule is April 30.
 - Students in grades 10-12 who wish to purchase parking decals at registration must
    present a license tag receipt and proof of insurance.  Parking decals are $5.00 each.
    Please note that students who operate a motorized vehicle on campus are subject
    to the district's drug testing policy.
 - Returning students (Grades 7-12) for the 2008-2009 school year will receive a copy of
    their schedule on the first day of school, August 7.

 Students who are entering the Biloxi Public School District from a home-schooled
 educational or unaccredited setting should call the office of Dr. David Spinks,
(228) 374-1810 extension 125, for instructions prior to registration.
