Nichols

Nichols Elementary, originally known as Biloxi Colored School, opened in 1926. The school was re-named Nichols in 1948, after Professor Marshall F. Nichols. A new Nichols was constructed in 1948, and Perkins Elementary School was built adjacent to Nichols School.

In 1985, Nichols was reconfigured as Nichols Middle School and hosted  Grades 6, 7 and 8, and in 1995 it was reconfigured as Nichols Junior High School, hosting Grades 7, 8 and 9.

In 2004, the Biloxi school district opened a new, $10 million Nichols Elementary School.
