| The Biloxi school board will discuss a number of timely issues -- school finances, and offers of grant money -- and recognize a number of outstanding teachers when board members meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the DuKate Building.
"We've had a number of issues come before the board in the past several weeks and months, and on Tuesday the board will receive updated information on many of them," Superintendent Dr. Paul A. Tisdale said. "Finances are the common thread, as is the potential growth in east Biloxi."
Jerry Creel, the city's director of Community Development. is scheduled to appear before the board to discuss the status of growth and development in east Biloxi.
The board also will recognize Brad Shonk, a fourth grade math and science teacher who was named the Mississippi Teacher of the Year; Biloxi Teacher of the Year Kim Clemons, and award-winners Jeannette Baucum and Michael Suarez.
The board also is expected to discuss the Kellogg Foundation grant to re-open Nichols Elementary School, and hear a budget update from school district business manager Shane Switzer.
