Help for parents of incoming 7th and 8th graders; other news and notes
3/22/2010

Parents of students who will be entering Grades 7 and 8 next school year are invited to attend meetings designed to help students make the transition into middle school. Graduation requirements and course offerings also will be discussed.

Parents should plan to attend either the meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., or Wednesday at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. All meetings will be held the auditorium at Biloxi Junior High School.

Incidentally, students will be receiving their Course Request Forms today, with those forms due back to first period teachers no later than Friday.

Meet the coach reminder: You can meet new Biloxi High School football coach John Shannon during a reception this evening at 6:30 at the Biloxi High School cafeteria.

Grandparents as parents: Grandparents or other guardians who have become the primary caregivers for students in Biloxi Public Schools will gather Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. to discuss the challenges they face and how to answer questions from their children. Free food and door prizes will be offered to those attending. The meeting will be held in the Biloxi Family Resource Center, located on the Lopez School Campus, 140 St. John Ave. Parking is available on the south side of the building. Madame President: Biloxi High School senior Kendall Holloway presided over the 14th annual convention of the Mississippi State Association of Student Councils on March 20 at St Patrick Catholic High School. As president of the association, Holloway also gave the president’s address and oversaw the installation of new officers.
