The Biloxi High School Drama Department will present Disney's "Alice in Wonderland Jr." March 12-14 in the lecture hall on the high school campus.
The production, under the direction of Kelly Norris, will feature Danielle Johnson as Alice, Stephanie Grammar as the Queen of Hearts, Cody McGuire as the Mad Hatter, Daniella Rojas as the White Rabbit, Carlton Warnberg as Tweedle Dum and Sean Harding as Tweedle Dee.
The story is based on the 1951 Disney movie "Alice in Wonderland," and the novels "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland"
and "Through the Looking Glass," by Lewis Carroll.
Norris said he was pleased with the response to the production. “The students have been really good,” she said. “We’ve been working on this production since the end of January. I had 70 kids audition, and 60 of them are in the cast. I really had aniticipated about 30 or so to be involved, so, to me, this interest shows that the department is growing.”
Production times are March 12 and 13 at 8 p.m., and March 14 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each, but those interested should not be turned off by the ticket price.
"Some people might wonder why it's $10," Norris said. "A musical can cost $4,000 to $5,000 to produce, with the rights to the music, and creating the costumes and the sets. Even at $10 we don't make money. We do it because the kids want to do it."
