Biloxi High Senior Savanna C. King has been named as a National Merit finalist. All finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2010.

Savanna also is the BHS STAR Student. She is treasurer of the National Honor Society, Vice-President of health Occupations Students of America, a member of the national Technical Honor Society, and an American Red Cross Volunteer.

Savanna placed in the top 1 percent in Biology at the Mississippi Math and Science Competition and as a member of the Envirothon Team, she placed 1st in the Biodiversity Category.

She plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in Chemical Engineering. Savanna is the daughter of Jo Ann and Joel King.
