Traffic is now snarled on the Popp’s Ferry bridge as emergency workers are on the scene of a fatal accident in which a northbound vehicle apparently crossed into the southbound lane, colliding head on with a Biloxi Public School schoolbus that had dropped off its last load of students and was returning to the district’s transportation department. The accident occurred about 8:30 this morning.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with the schoolbus died, emergency workers said.
The schoolbus driver and an aide on the bus, which was not transporting any students at the time of the accident, sustained minor injuries, according to Biloxi Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul A. Tisdale.
