The Biloxi Public School District is asking parents and students to take a few minutes to provide valuable feedback on the school system and its programs.
The district on its web site at biloxischools.net has surveys for parents and community members, middle school and junior high students, and high school students. School administrators and teachers will be filling out their own surveys on the district’s intranet.
Results from the surveys will be used by the district's Office of Federal Programs to help define needs and priorities at Biloxi schools.
“Biloxi Public Schools receives program funds from the federal government for the expressed purpose of addressing high priority needs within our schools,” said Dr. Karen Norwood, director of Secondary Education and Federal Programs for Biloxi Public Schools. “Those needs are established through a process that includes analyzing data received through surveys given to students, parents/community members, teachers and administrators.”
The school district’s Office of Federal Programs uses federal funds to administer four programs: Title I, which supports supplemental services for students in elementary schools and Michel 7th grade; Title II, which supports teacher and principal training; Title III, which supports programs and services for English language learners; and Title IV, which supports and promotes safe and drug-free schools.
If you have questions about these programs, contact Dr. Karen Norwood, director of Secondary Education and Federal Programs at karen.norwood@biloxischools.net or at (228) 374-1810, extension 134.
