The Biloxi Public School District’s website has been named the best in the state, winning a first place Award of Excellence from the Mississippi School Public Relations Association.
The site, www.biloxischools.net, serves as an information portal for the district and its 11 schools. The site was re-designed in 2008 and patterned after the City of Biloxi’s multiple-award-winning web site, biloxi.ms.us.
Both sites were designed by Vincent Creel, the city’s public affairs manager, and Robin Stephens and Renny Sherman of The Ad Group.
The district’s e-newsletter, The Windtalker, received a second place award in the categorey of external e-newsletters. The awards were announced at the annual Mississippi School Public Relations Association luncheon, Nov. 7, in Jackson.
“The Biloxi Public School District is making a focused effort to share the school district's achievements and challenges with the citizens of Biloxi," said Superintendent Dr. Paul A. Tisdale. "The district website is the foundation of our public relations efforts; our e-newsletter, The Windtalker, and quarterly publication, The Arrow, support our goal of having a better informed community, It's encouraging and reassuring that professional organizations, such as the Mississippi School Public Relations Association, recognize our efforts.”
