Superintendent Dr. Paul A. Tisdale says Biloxi public schools leaders are continuing to monitor reports on Gustav.
“Right now, based on what we know, we don’t anticipate any announcements in terms of school closings,” Tisdale said. “School will be open as usual Friday, and we’ll make any announcements about Tuesday over the weekend. Keep in mind that Monday is a school holiday. Our individual principals will be sending out Connect-Ed messages to parents on Friday afternoon to give them the latest information.”

Pep rally: A citywide pep rally to usher in the 2008 Biloxi High School football season will be held this afternoon at 4:30 in the parking of the Winn-Dixie at Pass and Popp’s Ferry roads. Visitors can meet the football team and see performances by the Indian cheerleaders, marching band and dance team.
School meetings: Lopez Elementary School will host a Back to School Night this evening from 6 to 8; the PTA at Popp’s Ferry Elementary will meet this evening at 5:30 in the school library; and Beauvoir Elementary School will conduct an open house this evening at 7. |
