The Biloxi Public Schools summer meal program, which involves four sites offering free nutritional meals for students up to 18 years old, began operations June 2 and continues through July 18.
The program operates weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Beauvoir, Gorenflo, Nichols and North Bay elementary schools. About 700 meals per day are served in the program.
Cost of a meal for parents accompanying their children is $2.75.
BHS graduate featured on cable TV’s ‘Design Star’
Jennifer Betrand -- who was known as Jennifer Oldham when she was a member of the Biloxi High class of 1993 -- is competing on cable TV's “Design Star,” a sort of “American Idol” for interior designers airing on HGTV.

Seniors reminded of portrait deadline
Biloxi High School Class of 2009 seniors and their parents are reminded that Aug. 16 is the last day that Broome's Studio will accept appointments for senior portraits.
Senior portraits to be printed in the yearbook are free. There is a charge, however, for those wishing to buy a package of photos or take a casual photo.
All senior yearbook pictures must be taken by Broome's Studio, which is on Pass Road and can be reached at 388-4390.
