The public on Tuesday will get its first look at the half-million-dollar
facelift to the auditorium at Biloxi Junior High School, a 1,000-seat
facility used frequently by community groups.
Among the upgrades to the auditorium, which was originally
constructed in 1960, are new theater seating, handicapped seating areas, new
stage flooring, new lighting, and a state-of-the-art sound system.
A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec.
4, just before the 6:30 p.m. Biloxi Junior High Christmas program, which
will feature the school band and choir.M.p>
Says district maintenance director Ronnie Bogard of the six-month
project: "The whole facility is new. You wouldn't recognize it compared to
the old one."
