Fifth grade students and their parents will have a chance to tour Biloxi Junior High School on Monday.
Prospective sixth grade students from Gorenflo and Popp's Ferry will begin the day of tours, with an 8:30 a.m. gathering in the junior high school auditorium and an introduction from Principal Dennis Penton.
At 9:45 a.m., students from Jeff Davis and North Bay will tour the campus and elective classes before gathering in the auditorium, and at 1:15 p.m., students from private and parochial schools will meet in the auditorium to hear a welcome from Penton before beginning their tour.
The visits will include stops at the library, cafeteria, pupil accounting, nurse's station, courtyard, counselors' office, and gymnasium. Also on the itinerary are the band hall, strings, and chorus classes.
Parent Academy planned for Thursday
Biloxi Public Schools will host a District Parent Academy on Thursday, April 5th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Biloxi Family Resource Center.
The emphasis will be on "Preparing your child for upcoming State Assessments." Included in the presentation will be Testing 101, parents role in the testing process, MDE assessment calendar, testing strategies and guidance for MCT2 and SATP2 practice tests.
Lunch will be provided, and tours of the Biloxi Family Resource Center will be available at the end of the program.

Cheerleaders to host 'Beauty and Beau Review'The Biloxi High School Varsity Cheerleaders will host the first "Biloxi Beauty and Beau Review" on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Biloxi Junior High Auditorium.
The most beautiful/most handsome pageant for girls and boys in Grades 6-8 will begin at 5 p.m., and the pageant for girls and boys in Grades 9-12 will begin at 7 p.m. Applications are available in the library at Biloxi High School, in the front office at Biloxi Junior High School or by clicking here.
Biloxi sailing team competes in Louisiana eventsThe Biloxi High School sail team finished fourth among a field of 12 schools at the First Annual North Shore Cup High School Regatta, held March 3rd and 4th.
The event was held at Ponchartrain Yacht Club in Mandeville, La. Schools from New Orleans, the Florida Panhandle, and Mississippi Gulf Coast competed.
The Biloxi High team also competed in November at the Great Oaks High School Regatta in New Orleans. This event is sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and hosted 43 teams from across the United States including New York, Florida, Texas, California, and Hawaii.
Racing for Biloxi High in these events were Collin Manuel and Miia Newman. The team is supported by the Biloxi Yacht Club, their boats, sails, and equipment.
The sail team will be competing in April at a Mississippi High School Team Racing event in Gulfport.
