Biloxi baseball tryouts are coming up
10/4/2011

The Athletic Department has announced that junior high and high school students will have two chances to tryout for baseball.

Junior high tryouts will be Oct. 8 and 15 at 10 a.m. at the Biloxi High baseball field, and those interested must sign up in advance with Coach Demoruelle in the junior high gym.

High school tryouts will also be Oct. 8 and 15 at the Biloxi High baseball field, at 2 p.m. Those interested must sign up in advance with Coach Burdine in Room 265 at Biloxi High School.

All students interested in trying out will need updated physicals, participation waivers, and proof of insurance.

For more information call the Biloxi Athletic Department, (228) 435-6310.

Band director: Preparation, hard work led to Superior showing

The Biloxi High School Band has marched off with a Superior rating in the Gold Medal Classic Marching Band Competition.

The competition was held Saturday at the Perkinston campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

"The students did a terrific job," said Band Director Travis Coakley. "The band received straight Superior ratings, the highest awarded, for overall band, percussion and color guard, and a fifth place finish out of 11 bands participating."

Added Coakley: "I am very proud of our students, staff and parent volunteers. They prepared with hard work, and it paid off as they represented Biloxi very well."

Getaway: The Band Boosters are continuing to offer a chance to win a Saints Getaway, with hotel accommodations, dinner and tickets to the Dec. 4 New Orleans-Detroit game. To print a flyer about the fund-raising event, click here.

Ninth grade boys basketball team seeks players

Coach Michael Reese reports that boys basketball is just around the corner, and any 9th Grade student who wants to play for the two–time defending District Four Regional Champions should see him before Oct. 17.

Those interested in trying out must have a physical, waiver, and proof of insurance on file with the Athletic Department before tryouts.
