Boys track team wins district title
4/28/2011

The Biloxi boys track team has successfully defended its 2010 title by winning the 2011 District 7-6A Championship. The Indians earned 94 points to outlast second place Ocean Springs by 16 points. Other competing teams were Pascagoula and George County. First place individual winners were Blair Mathis, long jump; William Wright, triple jump; Kieonta Causey, discus; Jeremy Landis, 1600 run; John Dillon, 400 dash; Anthony Madden, 300 hurdles; and Daniel Pratt, 800 run.

The relay team of Tomasha Dillon, Devoriae Martin, Blair Mathis and Tevaris McCormick also won first place in the 400-meter relay.

In addition, the Indians also qualified two participants in 14 of 17 events in preparation for the upcoming Regionals at Biloxi Stadium.

Says Head Coach Michael Reese: "This has been a great year for us so far. Coach William Harper has been a great assistant coach for our team. We won the Sabbatini Relays, and now the District Championship. This gives us great momentum going into the Regional meet."
