Students in Biloxi Public Schools will be participating in numerous tests over the next few weeks. Here's information to help parents and students prepare:
This week, high school and 8th grade students enrolled in Algebra I are taking the Mississippi Subject Area Testing Program, Second Edition (SATP2). The SATP2 consists of four academic, end-of-course tests that students must pass as a requirement for graduation. Students are assessed on the content at the completion of the course in Algebra I, Biology I, English II, and U.S. History. The English II test consists of multiple-choice and writing. Students must pass both components to acquire a passing score on the English II Subject Area Test.

On May 4th, all 5th and 8th grade students will participate in the Mississippi Science Test (MST), which assesses objectives in the 2010 Science Framework. For more information and sample test items on the MST, click here.
On May 10-12th, all 3rd through 8th graders will participate in the Mississippi Curriculum Test, Second Edition. The test, known as MCT2, is a measure of achievement in Language Arts and Mathematics in Grades 3-8 based on the 2006 Mississippi Language Arts Framework-Revised and the 2007 Mississippi Mathematics Framework-Revised. The MCT2 is the basis for state accountability in these grades, and is also designed to meet the federal testing requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
The MCT2 contains test questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The questions are aligned to the content, skills, and processes represented by Mississippi’s academic content standards as specified in the state curriculum frameworks and the academic performance level descriptors.
The MCT2 is administered annually over a three-day period. The MCT2 Language Arts is composed of two sections. The Reading section is administered on Day 1, and the Writing section is administered on Day 2. The MCT2 Mathematics is administered on Day 3.
