"The Biloxi Alphabet Book," a book that has been written and illustrated by CREATE students at Gorenflo Elementary School will make history: It will be the first book to go into the new Biloxi Public Library when it opens later this year.
Mayor A.J. Holloway made the announcement this week after Ginger Anderson's students presented him a copy during a visit to the Back Bay school.
"The Biloxi Alphabet Book" was a semester-long project in which students "researched their town and then created illustrations for each letter of the alphabet based on the sites, businesses, and happenings in Biloxi," Anderson said. "They also wrote poetry to go with their illustrations. It has really turned out to be a beautiful book."

Photos: North Bay museum turns back the hands of time
Dozens of students and even a few parents made their way through Biloxi's newest museum, "Walking With the Pharaohs," at North Bay Elementary School.
Its success was immediate and sustained over its two-day run, according to organizers.
