Biloxi Public Schools will hold another installment of "2nd Cup of Coffee" on Friday morning at schools throughout the district.
The event is a district-wide parent involvement event at each school.
"2nd Cup of Coffee is an informal time for parents to visit with principals and other school personnel, to build relationships and keep lines of communication open," said Superintendent Dr. Paul A. Tisdale. "I'm hoping that we'll have a good number of parents stop by, have a cup of coffee, and talk about whatever they'd like.”
Gorenflo student wins golf tournament poster contest
Artwork created by Gorenflo student Kamri Huy has been chosen as the official poster for this year's Mississippi Gulf Coast Resort Classic.
The second-grader won the inaugural BP America Poster Contest at the Boys and Girls Club in Biloxi. She recently was presented a $500 savings bond from Hancock Bank and a $500 gift certificate from Best Buy.
She was chosen from 54 students representing nine Boys and Girls Clubs in South Mississippi. Each entered six participants. Students from kindergarten to fifth grade were eligible for the contest.
"I’m excited to be receiving this award,” Kamri told the Sun Herald. "It's something that I will always remember."
Her artwork will serve as the official poster for the Gulf Coast Resort Classic, which runs Wednesday through Sunday at Fallen Oak golf course. She will autograph the poster Sunday and present the artwork to the Resort Classic winner.
