The Biloxi Lady Indians continued their undefeated season Tuesday picking up a 10-0 victory over the Lady Gators of Gautier.
Biloxi hurler Brittany Lang continued her strong season, striking out 14 batters in six innings of work. Biloxi coach Tommy Johnson said Lang had great command of her pitches all night.
"BL had pin point control of not only her fastball but all of her secondary pitches," Johnson said. "I think there may have been 5 pitches that didn't hit the location that was called."
Lang's team also provided support for her with the bat. In the first inning, Biloxi used timely hitting and good base running to build a 3-0 lead. In that inning, Dana Bahanovich drew a one out walk and stole second. Lang drove in Bahanovich with a line drive single, and she stole second as well. Ariel Russell scored Lang with an RBI single, and Danielle Darmohray brought in Russell with a single of her own.
The Lady Indians would never look back, adding seven more runs in the game.
Lang was 4-4 at the plate, driving in two runs. Russell also had two RBIs.
The Lady Indians travel to Long Beach Thursday before playing in the Biloxi Fast Pitch Tournament this weekend. Johnson believes the upcoming stretch will serve as a measuring stick for the team.
"We are going up against two of the better programs in the state by facing Long Beach and D'Iberville over the next few days," said Johnson. "After that, we should have a good idea of where we are and what we need to do before the start of district play."
